Friday August 31st:

19:00 Pre-VlogEurope meet-up For those who have already arrived Heidelberg, we will meet at 19:00 at Bismarckplatz in Central Heidelberg map and together go and eat dinner.


Saturday September 1st:

09:00 - 09:30 Arrival - Registration - Coffee Upon arrival, participants register and receive their nametag and enjoy coffee/tea

09:30 - 10:00 Welcome. Introduction of participants. Organisers Joel Carner, Jeffrey Taylor and Raymond Kristiansen wish you welcome and we do an introduction of the participants and their diverse projects/interests. Why are you here? What is your relationship to videoblogging?

10:00 - 11:00 Aske Dam: Then and now - the history of personal media Aske Dam has been involved with local access TV and similar projects for decades, and in this informal overview of the development of personalized media we will be given a good summary of media's past and present. Also: What can we expect for the future?

11:00 - 11:15 Break 1 During the first break, there will be a spotlight on BlogTV, which is our streaming video partner. During the sessions on Saturday, we will broadcast live using the BlogTV system and people not present will be able to join the discussions at VlogEurope via BlogTV

11:15 - 12:15 Panel: 'The Perfect Software In this discussion with introductions by Gabe McIntyre (.NL), social researcher Jürgen Hösch (.DE) and Tajee Tajima (.JP) we will discuss the current state of arts of software used by videobloggers. Also: What will the perfect software look like? What is the next step?

At the end of the discussion, we will be giving out 3 software licenses for Camtasia Studio by TechSmith and 3 licenses for SnagIt, also from TechSmith. These tools (for the Windows platform) are great for documenting uses of software and web services, and users can also be used to effectively ask for specific features and UI improvements.

12:15 - 12:30 Perspectif What is the larger perspective of all of this? In this session, we will show a 3-minute video followed by a discussion about the long-term effects of videoblogging on the media and society.

12:30 - 13:30 Lunch buffet During lunch (sponsored by Blip.tv, we will show some videos from blip.tv, the premiere service for videobloggers.

13:30-15:00 - Curated Video Session: The Vlogs with which We Live

15:00-15:15 - Break 2 - During the second short coffee/cigarette break we will spotlight the Xacti, the hybridcamera from Sanyo.

15:15-16:00 - Content Transcending Cash Videoblogging is becoming big business. What does this mean for independent videobloggers? Is the commercialization of the space a threat or a boon? What actions can we as videobloggers take to stop worrying about money and to focus on content?

16:00-16:30 - Closing, information about activities on Saturday Night as well as Sunday. The formal part of VlogEurope is now at an end, and we will spend the rest of Saturday and Sunday together, vlogging Heidelberg and having long discussions over a cup of coffee.

16:30-19:00 - Free time. Enjoy Heidelberg with some of your new (or old) friends at VlogEurope

19:00 Meet at Bismarckplatz and we will together go for BBQ and party at Joel Carner's house. In the evening, there will be a great firework in Central Heidelberg, and the view from Joel's house will be fantastic. Let's hope there won't be any fog!


Sunday September 2nd: VlogHeidelberg:

10:00 Meet at Nekar Wiese (Nice park by the Nekar river close to downtown Heidelberg)

10:15 Participants split into groups of 4 and each group are then given a map of Heidelberg. In addition, each group choose 4 Cards. Each card has a keyword, an assignment, a hint, and the groups are then to go explore Heidelberg, using the map and the ClueCards together.

13:00 Meet at Nekar Wiese again whereafter we go for lunch.

Rest of Day: Informal Gathering Editing of Vlog Europe footage, Uploading to Blip.tv, and "Conversations With Virtual Participants" on BlogTV
